Automate with Cuto iOS Shortcuts
The "Auto Change Wallpaper" feature of Cuto iOS is implemented using the system's Shortcuts App. This requires some necessary setup the first time you use it, and a little understanding of the system's shortcut settings, which is not difficult. This tutorial will guide you step by step.
If you encounter any issues during the setup process, feel free to contact us via in-app feedback ( hi@cutowallpaper.com ). The Cuto team is happy to assist you.
Install Cuto Shortcuts
- In the Cuto iOS App, tap the fourth icon in the bottom bar "…", then tap the "🚀Shortcut Automation" option.
- Tap the "Install" button to install the CUTO Today and CUTO Random shortcuts (or choose one of them).
- Tapping "Install" will redirect you to the Shortcuts App. Tap the "+ Add Shortcut" button at the bottom to complete the installation.
Set Up Cuto Today Shortcut
- In the Shortcuts App, find the "Cuto Today" card you just installed under "All Shortcuts" and tap the "…" icon in the upper right corner of the card to open the Cuto Today shortcut settings interface.
- Tap the second line "Set [Wallpaper] to……" on the light blue words "Wallpaper" and select the lock screen you are currently using in the pop-up menu, then tap "Done" in the upper right corner. (⚠️ Only by correctly selecting the current lock screen can the wallpaper be changed normally)
- Tap the blue words "Lock Screen and Home Screen" to change the wallpaper for the lock screen (or home screen) separately. The default is to set both simultaneously.
- Tap the "Set [Wallpaper] to [Cuto Wallpaper] for [Lock Screen and Home]" arrow " > " at the end to expand more options for this action.
- Show Preview: Default is off, recommended to keep it off.
- When turned on, a pop-up will show the wallpaper preview before each wallpaper change.
- Crop to Subject: Default is on, can be turned off as needed.
- When turned on, the system will automatically recognize the image content to enlarge the recognized subject, which may sometimes over-enlarge the image affecting the effect.
- Legibility Blur: Default is on, recommended to turn it off.
- This option is only displayed when setting the home screen wallpaper.
- When turned on, the system will automatically blur all home screen wallpapers. When turned off, the wallpaper will be displayed clearly.
- Show Preview: Default is off, recommended to keep it off.
Set Up Cuto Random Shortcut
- The "Set [Wallpaper] to [Cuto Wallpaper] for [Lock Screen and Home]" setting operation is the same as Cuto Today.
- Tap the " > " arrow at the end of the first line "Get a Random Wallpaper" to expand this action.
- Select from Favorites: Default is off.
- When turned on, the wallpaper will only be randomly selected from your favorites list, not from the entire Cuto wallpaper library.
- Category Name: Default is empty.
- When empty, the wallpaper will be randomly selected from the entire Cuto wallpaper library.
- Enter a subcategory title from the "Collections" page in the Cuto App, such as "Black", to randomly select wallpapers only from the "Black" category list.
- Ensure the category name entered is accurate. Multiple category names are not supported at this time.
- Select from Favorites: Default is off.
Usage: Daily Automatic Wallpaper Change (Set Up Cuto Automation)
As an example of setting up an automation "Automatically change a Cuto Today wallpaper at a specific time every day":
- Open the Shortcuts App, tap the second item "Automation" at the bottom, and then tap the "+" in the upper right corner.
- Select the first item "Specific Time".
- Set the specific time you want to change the wallpaper, select the repeat frequency "Daily", and tap "Run Immediately", then tap "Next" in the upper right corner. (⚠️ If you select "Run After Confirmation", a confirmation notification will be pushed before each wallpaper change, and the wallpaper change will only be executed after you manually confirm permission, making it impossible to change the wallpaper fully automatically and imperceptibly)
- Find and select Cuto Today in "My Shortcuts", or search for the keyword "Cuto" to select, and complete.
Usage: Tap the Back of the iPhone to Instantly Change Wallpaper
- Go to System Settings, select "Accessibility - Touch", scroll to the bottom, and select "Back Tap".
- Choose "Double Tap" or "Triple Tap" as needed (⚠️ Triple Tap is less prone to accidental touches)
- Scroll down the list, find and select Cuto Today (or Cuto Random) under the "Shortcuts" subtitle, and complete.
Try tapping the back of the iPhone twice/three times in the unlocked state to directly run a Cuto wallpaper change.
Usage: Press the Action Button to Change Wallpaper with One Click
